Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens,
Brown paper packages tied up with strings,
These are a few of my favorite things.”
There will be hay bales, pumpkins, mums, and other Fall decorations. There will be food with several pumpkin pies. There will be games. There will be a sing-a-long with some of the old, familiar Gospel songs. And there will be a lot of fun and laughter.
The church in Jerusalem that enjoyed such strong unity came together for several purposes. They gathered together to hear the Word of God. They gathered together for prayer and worship. And they gathered together for fellowship. Establishing and strengthening relationships within the Body of Christ is vital to our spiritual growth and development. Simple events like the Jamboree provide opportunities for that to happen.
The event also has an evangelistic/missional component. It provides an opportunity to invite a friend who might not be open to attending a regular church service. Many people have ended up in the church and the kingdom of God by way of a fellowship event.
So take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy a fun evening with your RLA family. Invite a friend and join us at the “Welcome Home Jamboree.” As we say back in the Ozark Mountains where I was raised, “Ya’ll come on out now. Ya’ hear?!”
